The Vacancy
The principal role of the Porters within the College is to perform an excellent “front-of-house” service to all our Members, particularly our Students. As the main point of contact for all College Members, Staff and visitors, it is essential that the Porters reflect a very positive impression of the College and its high standards. Equally as important are the responsibilities for the security and safety of the College Members and visitors, and the College site and its property.
The Porters fill a number of roles including Security, Reception, First Aid and Welfare care and support, emergency response and provide a point of contact for information and assistance to students and visitors to the College. The role is a varied one, presenting unique challenges and opportunities to make a positive impression on all who visit, work or study at Fitzwilliam College.
Currently, the Porters Lodge consists of the Head Porter, the Deputy Head Porter, 4 Duty Porters and 2 Duty Night Porters, and it operates 24/7 over 365 days a year. We are now seeking to expand the Night Porters to four in number, to have two Porters on duty per night.
Please note that this vacancy is being run as a rolling recruitment process. We will be assessing applications, shortlisting and offering interviews as applications are received.
